HarBar on 6th - New Menu*

Right on the water, in a marina that used to just have an empty space, lies my second home. HA! Kidding, but seriously the Southampton Harbour Hotel is my nearest and dearest and I will probably post about it until the end of time because it is just so comforting and exactly what Southampton was missing. I've had two glorious years working with this hotel and wining, dining and gymming so whenever they launch a new menu it's a good excuse for me to eat EVERYTHING on it and not feel guilty.

I took my Nana and Grandad with me to treat them to a meal and also steal all their food obviously!

Starters
  • FETA STUFFED PEPPERS (V)
  • BREAD, TRUFFLE SALT, OLIVE OIL (V)
  • CRISP DUCK SALAD, CUCUMBER, SPRING ONION, CASHEWS, ASIAN SLAW, HOISIN DRESSING
  • SMOKED SALMON TARTARE, AVOCADO, CAPER BERRIES, LEMON
  • BEEF CARPACCIO, BLACK TRUFFLE, WALNUTS, BLUE CHEESE, LETTUCE
So If you follow me on Instagram you will, probably know that I have a rather unhealthy (or healthy?) obsession with Salmon, Avocado and anything that contains the two. So it was obvious I was going to like this starter! My Grandad went for the beef and from the time it took for it to disappear (all of 3 seconds) I think he really enjoyed it! Me and my Nana shared the Duck dish as it is quite big for a starter, I'd say you could have it for lunch 100% and be satisfied! My Salmon also has so much in it the portions are really generous. The Duck also had a great mix of sauce and nuts and a healthy portion of meat in there too.

Mains

PAN FRIED MONKFISH, MUSSEL AND SAFFRON RISOTTO, SEAWEED
GRILLED RUMP LAMB, TOULOUSE SAUSAGE & BEAN CASSOULET, BASIL OIL
HARBAR BEEF BURGER, SMOKED APPLEWOOD CHEESE, TOMATO RELISH, GHERKIN, FRIES

Then came the mains and we really were stretching how much we could eat here!! All the portions were so big so no complaints at all. The food was warming and hearty and we all felt so at home just chatting and enjoying the food. Nothing too stuffy or picky, just really good quality food. The Lamb was cooked perfectly with a little pink inside on a bed of beans that went so well with it. I had the Monkfish and WOW was there a lot of fish! The Mussels were so tasty and being the first time I had ever had Monkfish, I was extremely pleasantly surprised. I was expecting it to be a little tough but it wasn't at all, quite light actually.

My Grandad of course had the burger and well, there is really nothing like a classic burger anyway is there! They are always amazing and the chips are so tasty (especially the sweet potato ones). All in all very exceptional main meals, and I promise they aren't making me say that!

Desserts

STICKY TOFFEE PUDDING STOUT POACHED DATES, CLOTTED CREAM ICE CREAM (V)
WHITE CHOCOLATE CREME BRÛLÉE 7 SWEET BALSAMIC PLUMS, PISTACHIOS (V/N/GF)

As you may know, I'm not much of a dessert person. I tend to just skip that bit and have a starter instead, but my Nana and Grandad were determined to have one so I'm taking their word for it!

As much as I do work with this hotel a lot and I am one of their ambassadors, I do make sure I am always honest and have previously talked about things that weren't quite so good on my Instagram. I think that the more honest I am with my experiences the better gauge you will get of places, and this was 1000/10 for everything! The food, service and atmosphere.
