The Best Dinner Date Night | HarBar on 6th*

Now it's no secret that probably my favourite place in Southampton is the Southampton Harbour Hotel, so when I found out they were launching a new menu I was in there like a shot. A few days before I was due to go and review the new menu, I was in there tasting the new food, and have been back at least 3 times since!! Can't say I don't recommend places I love ......

I took my mum with me to eat in the restaurant side of the Harbar on 6th, however you can order the menu across the whole floor and bar, it just depends how chilled or 'date night' you're feeling! We chose a beautiful bottle of Malbec, and I try the wine when they ask every time now as I found out (by having a dud bottle somewhere else) that some of them can go off and that's why they ask!! Who knew!! Malbec is my ultimate favourite red wine and this one was particularly nice.

For starters we decided to have a couple to share between us so we opted for the tortilla chips, avocado, chilli and coriander, as well as the Lobster Arancini with Saffron Aioli. I think they complimented each other well and the sauce for the arancini brought out more of the flavour.

For mains we had a real hard time choosing. I had already had the salmon a couple of nights before so knew I wanted something different, and shock horror I chose a steak! I have had them quite a lot of places but weirdly never at Harbour so decided it was time to go for it. I had the 7oz Rump Steak (also a first) with Green Peppercorn Sauce, salad and fries. As well as a side of the broccoli and almonds which I honestly add to EVERY meal there and anywhere that has it. My mum went for the Pulled Pork burger with Monterey Jack Cheese and Red Onion. We THEN added the Shrimp Ceviche Tostadas, Guacamole, Chipotle Chilli Mayo, Sour Cream and Salsa from the starters menu, as we really really wanted to try it and thought it would be a nice fresh thing to have as well as our mains (basically we are just piggies).

The Shrimp tostada was just DIVINE and I have since been back and had it for lunch. The steak was also incredible and I really enjoyed it, now I can say I enjoy rump and fillet!! The burger was succulent and there was a really good amount of pork in there too! The food was honestly so lovely and I would really recommend trying a few things off their new menu!!

Thank you so much to Harbour for a wonderful meal!! What will you try?
