Now I've only been back into my regular reading for a couple of weeks and I thought I would start out easy. I know I love these books and as simple as they are, they are a real page turner! I have read maybe 2-3 of this series already and anytime I see them I always grab them, I have my eye on another in the library and there's one on my bookshelf that needs reading too. If you like murder mysteries and a little escapism then these are for you.
They follow the story of Mrs Fletcher (Daisy Dalrymple) on her adventures as a sort of Murder She Wrote type story. Wherever she goes she seems to be followed by a mystery! I'm not entirely sure what order they go in but they are such a fun and easy read I haven't bothered with them in the correct order and just pick whichever ones I see. This one follows the story of a family discounted by their Lord and Lady counterparts when someone enters who could save it all.
I don't want to give the story away but if you think you know who the culprit of the murder is then you're most likely wrong! I thought I knew who it was maybe three times across the story but there were more twists and turns.
Another great thing about these is that they are set in the 1920's (a time I would have loved to have seen if I were a Lady of a beautiful manor house in the Cotswolds but alas, I am not) and therefore share a lot of language that isn't known to me or is barely spoken nowadays. Expanding my vocabulary is part of the point of reading aside form enjoyment so these serve as a great chance to do that.
I probably can't say much else without giving the story away which would ruin it for you, but if you like a bit of mystery, a good page turner for fun and want to give them a try, I thoroughly encourage you to do so!
