Eating and Swinging at West Quay Watermark
I am absolutely overwhelmed with the quality of the new restaurants in the West Quay Watermark complex (I posted about Thaikhun here)and I know I rave about each one, but they really are incredible. I got to try two new openings with the Soton Bloggers girls and I left extremely impressed.
First up was The Real Greek, the first of it's restaurants on the South Coast serving up healthy and wholesome food from Greece and Cyprus. The decor recreates the feel of eating in Greece and the Santorini cocktail bar makes it's debut in Southampton but you'd think it had been a part of the brand for a lot longer as the drinks were just divine, just as fresh as the food. The meze plates were so tasty and healthy I could have eaten everything in the place and not got that dreaded food coma. We tried the halloumi, lamb meatballs, and hell even the fries were amazing (secret recipe). They also offer lots of student discounts too including a whopping 25% off the whole bill and 15% off lunch menus!
Next up was the Red Dog Saloon event that had the coolest local band called Junco Shakers, with cool instruments and songs to really set the 'swinging' vibe. There were awesome burgers and ribs and even an Oreo cheesecake too! The array of cocktails were professionally made and were unique, with tequila and gin concoctions to enjoy. The relaxed atmosphere was really nice and having walked past when there isn't a band, the place is full of tables with excited eaters. They also had celebrity guest James 'Arg' Argent from Tv show TOWIE so come down and sample the new venue! Woohoo!
So if you're looking for somewhere to eat this weekend, these two places are both open for booking tables. Whether you fancy healthy tapas style greek food or meaty grilled and glorious, there's something for you!
